THE Home Hill Chamber of Commerce has been leading the way in efforts to encourage all levels of government to consider improving the drainage provided through the deep kerbing and channelling throughout the Central Business District of Home Hill, but without much success.
However, the Burdekin Shire Council has moved in the right direction as part of footpath replacement works being carried out on the western side of Eighth Avenue, with the new gutter now in place at two levels.
Thich will make it much easier for occupants of vehicles parking in the area between Eighth Street and the Comfort Stop to access businesses in that section of the town.
Elderly residents have a lot of difficulty in crossing the deep gutters and the new work is a great start by the council towards hopefully having more of the kerbing and channelling in Eighth Avenue replaced in the not-too-distant future.
