OUR efforts to get a “Cash for Containers” depot in Home Hill seems to have little chance of success, judging by the message given to members of the Chamber of Commerce at their June meeting.
Two leaders of the Ayr facility were very open in detailing what had happened over the river to get their new facility up and running—and a main point of a cost of $1.3 million to get it operational leaves little chance for any organisation also outlaying that amount to set up another depot in Home Hill that would also halve the containers that would be available to each of the two facilities.
However, they were able to highlight how they were servicing Home Hill, which includes actually coming over from Ayr to collect relevant quantities of containers—all it needs is a phone call.
If the Ayr facility keeps Home Hill people informed on what needs to be done to gain access to that service, then those wishing to dispose of cans and bottles without driving to Ayr should find the task a lot easier.
