Following a fly-by stop-in of the Burdekin recently to cut the ribbon on the Haughton River Flood-plain project, it was surprising to hear the Premier tell Parliament last week that she is planning to return to the area soon.
I would hope that she would be allocating time to visit Home Hill and in particular, the hospital, where we are still waiting for additional staff in the renal dialysis service, the underutilised TAFE, or the main street, where the camber of the road continues to be incredibly dangerous, particularly for elderly residents.
I know that groups like the Home Hill Chamber of Commerce would welcome the opportunity to meet with the Premier to discuss issues concerning the CBD and future of the town.
