Groper Creek’s Playground Upgrade Project

Groper Creek Playground plan 2022

THE HOME HILL Boat Club has welcomed the Burdekin Shire Council’s 2022/23 Budget allocation of $95,000 towards the Groper Creek Playground Equipment Renewal Project.

Commodore Ross Chapman said the club had been liaising closely with Council with regards to the upgrade and approval had also been provided for the installation of solar panels to provide additional shade to the park.

“The Groper Creek Playground receives a serious workout from locals and visitors all year round – it has also received various assaults from the weather elements over the years,” Mr Chapman said. “We understand that tenders are being called and the work will be undertaken as soon as practical.”

According to Club records, the first playground was erected at Groper Creek 70 years ago (in 1952). This upgrade will ensure the creek-side park will continue to provide enjoyment for generations to come.
