Experience Shows in new Quilt

Annette Kelly with her embroidery Quilt depicting Australias Armed Forces

A TOTAL of 25 years of quilting experience brought huge dividends for Home Hill resident, Annette Kelly when she displayed her completed Embroidery Quilt featuring all aspects of Australia’s Armed Forces during Home Hill’s Anzac Day services.

Mrs Kelly, the wife of the RSL Sub-Branch president, Richard Kelly, said it would have taken her “about three months off and on” to complete the impressive work, which was displayed as a backdrop to the speakers at the Dawn Service and again during the Gunfire Breakfast.

Mrs Kelly, who is a member of the Burdekin Patchwork and Quilters Guild and the Embroidery Mates, had aimed to complete the work by Anzac Day and will hand it over to the Home Hill RSL for future safe keeping.

The Quilt is a Kreative Kiwi Design downloaded from the internet, which Mrs Kelly arranged the way she wanted it with the Navy on top and with the Air Force and Paratroopers underneath dropping off the Army, with the soldiers and the dogs.
