THE Burdekin Race Club has added two more meetings to its racing calendar for 2022, with meetings to be held on dates not taken up by other country race clubs.
The local club had already agreed to take on a Charters Towers date that it was unable to accept on Saturday, December 3.
At its November meeting, the club agreed to conduct a race meeting on Saturday, November 12, as the Ingham Race was also not able to race on that day.
The Home Hill club normally has five race meetings of its own in a year but accepting dates from other clubs means it is now able to conduct seven meetings in the current 2022 year.
The club has been undertaking a considerable amount of improvements to its track in recent months, with a new running rail being installed around the full circumference of the race track, with the former rail being moved inside to the training track.
The actual racetrack has also been completely renovated with considerable levelling and fertilising carried out to bring it up to a first-class standard since the Burdekin Growers Race Day in May.Most of the work has been carried out by club members’ voluntary labour.
