RESIDENTS of the Home Hill community have until Wednesday, December 7 to nominate their fellow residents, organisations and events for the 2023 Australia Day Awards.
There are large numbers of people in the local area who would be eligible for nomination in any one of the award categories, which range from sporting, cultural and environmental achievements to stand-out community events, dedication to volunteering and the principal titles of Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year.
Encouraging the submission of nominations, Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said everyone knew somebody who has made significant contributions in some area of the community.
“In past years, you may have even considered nominating them for an award but missed the deadline,” Cr McLaughlin commented. “I want to encourage you to get in early and nominate them now for all categories of the 2023 Australia Day Awards.”
Application forms are on the Burdekin Shire Council website or by contacting the council’s Community Development team.
