A Century of Memories

FOUR generations of the Stockdale family celebrated 100 years of memories at Groper Creek on June 12 in The Boat House.

Seventy descendants of the late twin brothers, Morris and Kenneth Stockdale, who would have turned 100 years of age on June 7, 2022, gathered to share stories of the two remarkable men who loved their fishing, families and life in general.

Home Hill sugarcane farmers, the men both had huts at Groper Creek and were Life Members of the Home Hill Boat Club.

Morris and his wife, Maisie had six children, while Kenneth and his wife, Annie had five children, who all grew up at the creek.

Leaving behind the legacy of large families, the next generations have also expanded with the Stockdale name well and truly entrenched and living on in Home Hill and Groper Creek.
