THE Burdekin Race Club will take a giant step forward in August when the first TAB meeting is held on the Home Hill track for many years.
Racing Queensland has allocated Thursday, August 31, 2023, to the local club for a TAB meeting – the first to be held in the town for many years, dating back to when works were being carried out on the Cluden track in Townsville resulting in meetings being transferred to Home Hill.
The TAB meeting, which will feature seven races, will be one of 6 to be hosted by the Burdekin Club in the 2023-24 financial year.
The race dates for the 2023/24 year for the Burdekin Race Club are:
- Saturday, July 8, 2023
- Thursday, August 31, 2023 (TAB meeting)
- Saturday, November 4, 2023 (Derby Day)
- Saturday, February 17, 2024
- Saturday, April 6, 2024
- Saturday, May 18, 2024 (Burdekin Growers Race Day)
The Burdekin Club hosted more meetings in the 2022-23 year, but that was due to the club holding meetings on behalf of the Charters Towers and Ingham Race Clubs.
