Sewing Talents on Show in Rags to Runway

Rags to Runway 2023

THE Burdekin Artisan Community Association Inc. took their popular Rags to Runway event indoors this year, moving from the Netball Courts venue that they have used for the last two years, to the Burdekin Memorial Hall to allow more of their prospective entrants and supporters to attend the event.

The Rags to Runway sewing enthusiasts from throughout the northern region have displayed their skills in past events, with a variety of outstanding outfits being shown on the catwalk and a large and appreciative crowd in attendance.

There were 28 entries over five categories. As well as the Open and Junior Sections, there were the Budget Challenge, Racewear Budget Challenge and Accessories.

The Junior winner (sponsored by Wilmar Sugar) was Elora Keating while the Open winner (sponsored by Ergon Energy) was Christine Morton of Mackay.

All funds raised will stay in the Home Hill district supporting the many artists who display their varying forms of artwork at 170 Arts on the Avenue, Home Hill (adjacent to Ashworths Rock Shop).
