Tributes to a Racing Man

THE Burdekin Race Club has paid tribute to a long-serving member of the Club, Trevor Davies, who passed away recently in Cairns.

At a recent meeting, Burdekin Club President, Ricky Gudge described Mr Davies as a “hard working member of the club” who had been a big loss over the last couple of years.

He said Trevor Davies had been the Club’s Patron, a Life Member, and the MC for Race Day Presentations and other activities over a long period of time as well as being the Burdekin Club’s representative on the Leichhardt Area Committee.

“He absolutely loved racing,” Mr Gudge told the recent monthly meeting as members observed a period of silence to remember their member of many years.

Trevor Davies also owned many horses, many of which ran under a name starting with “Molongle”, a reference to his home of many years near Molongle Creek at Gumlu.
